The LEOMINSTER TEAM is looking to fill the role of Night Shift Supervisor (B & D - 12 hours) in their Leominster, Massachusetts facility.
Supervises and coordinates activities of the team members engaged in the molding of plastic products, applying knowledge of the molding machine set-up, operating techniques, and production methods. Using standard processes and continuous improvement, the Supervisor identifies discrepancies in parts and products, documents findings in a timely and efficient manner, ensuring the delivery of world class products. Responsible for managing staff issues including assigning daily work, addressing performance issues, and resolving problems.
The Leominster site is one of the manufacturing sites for IPL’s Large Format and Retail Packaging (LF&R) business in the United States. LF&R is a growing segment, with annual revenue of approximately $200m and significant growth potential, and is part of the Environmental, Returnable and Industrial Solutions (ERIS) Division of IPL.
Position Title: Shift Supervisor (12 - Hours)
- D - Shift (Thursday - Saturday & every other Wednesday - 12 hours) 7pm-7am
Location: Leominster, Massachusetts
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the production and quality of products, completing daily reports for production and payroll reporting purposes.
- Responsible for maintaining/enforcing safe working conditions and ensuring that all EHS and OSHA regulations are met, including utilizing personal protective equipment (PPE) where required.
- Schedule and directs leads, fulltime, and temporary employees in the building assigned.
- Monitors production, inventory, and minimizes scrap in the department.
- Oversees set up and operation of equipment, material use, labeling, and other related activities on respective shift.
- Trains all personnel in the department.
- Reports all department and personnel issues and resolves personnel issues in accordance with Company Policy Guidelines.
- Troubleshoots and resolves molding processes.
- Inspects and updates all work orders.
- Work from bill-of-materials (BOMs), operating instructions, and written (Work Orders) and verbal instructions.
- Keeps the department running with minimal downtime and optimizes cycle times.
- Keeps manufacturing equipment operating by enforcing operating instructions; works with Production manager and maintenance personnel to maintain PM system.
- Use hand tools, small power tools, electrical hoists, powered industrial trucks, testing equipment, etc. as trained.
- Carryout prescribed maintenance and repair operations on state-of-the-art injection molding machines and related equipment.
- Repair/replace various components, switches, sensors, etc.
- Ensures the security of the general plant and manufacturing areas.
- Responds to building or employee incidents promptly and appropriately, and reports to Human Resources.
- Perform other duties and tasks as assigned.
Routine Duties:
- Produces quality parts as outlined by the Production Manager.
- Works with all shifts to ensure smooth transitions and communications.
- Informs the Process Technicians and Maintenance team of any mold or molding issues.
- Works with Maintenance on any machines to ensure minimum downtime.
- Ensures that required productions forms are completed and emailed to the proper departments.
- Must record and update employee calendars.
- Must be involved and assist workers on everyday functions related to molding.
- Supervises daily molding areas including satisfying internal quality customer requirements, ensuring reporting production transactions are accurately logged, and sending finished goods and WIP products to the correct location.
- Performs other duties as required at the discretion of management.
Skills Required:
- Proven leadership qualities in alignment with IPL Company principles and core values.
- Proven skills in all aspects of plastic product manufacturing.
- Ability to write, read, understand, and edit manufacturing procedures, work instructions, schedules, part numbers, and descriptions. Basic computer skills.
- Able to interact with all the other departments for instruction.
- Must work as a team, listen to other supervisors for suggestions, and then delegate these instructions to team leaders; making sure that everyday responsibilities are carried out accurately and in a way that is acceptable to management.
