The role

The Quality Director is a key role that will lead the development and execution of Quality Improvement and standardization initiatives across our 10 IPL North American manufacturing sites. The role will be accountable for developing and implementing quality improvement strategies that align with the company's goals and objectives and our OneIPL strategy.

Please note that this is remote role and candidates will need to be flexible to travel to all IPL sites across North America as required.

As a Quality Director at IPL you will:

  • Develop and implement divisional and site-based quality control processes and procedures to ensure adherence to industry standards, customer requirements, and regulatory compliance.
  • Conduct regular site audits and inspections to identify areas for improvement and drive corrective actions to address quality issues.
  • Develop and maintain customer relationships and act as an escalation point for any quality (product or system) related issues
  • Collaborate with plant managers and cross-functional teams across the division to establish quality KPIs, monitor performance metrics, and drive accountability for results.
  • Analyze divisional and site data and trends to identify root causes of quality issues, implement corrective actions, and prevent the recurrence of defects.
  • Provide training, coaching, and support to plant personnel on quality control methodologies, problem-solving techniques, and continuous improvement tools.
  • Work closely with suppliers, customers, and internal stakeholders to address quality concerns, resolve disputes, and drive quality improvements throughout the supply chain.
  • Stay current on industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in plastic injection manufacturing to drive innovation and competitiveness within the organization.
  • Prepare and present regular reports and updates on quality initiatives to senior management, highlighting achievements, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations, food packaging and DOT container compliance, safety standards, and quality control measures.
  • Manage, train, and motivate direct and indirect reports to enhance a proactive culture.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures to safeguard the well-being of staff and visitors.
  • Provide regular, consistent, and transparent communication and interaction with the leadership teams about departmental activities, potential threats, opportunities, and recommended actions.

What you will bring to the role:

  • A senior leader with extensive operational experience in running a business
  • Able to understand quality processes and procedures and how they impact operations, customer requirements and technical attributes of the product range.
  • Strong experience in P&L management with clear ability to forecast, manage budgets and costs.
  • Able to successfully lead and implement change, structure, and process and take a common-sense approach to encouraging continual cultural, technological, and operational transformation.
  • Experience of M&A led growth and integration with knowledge of how business is conducted on a global scale. Able to work effectively with senior leadership.
  • An inspiring leader who can attract and retain the key talent for the Division. Experience leading, coaching, building teams and mentoring highly skilled and experienced direct reports.
  • Comfortable working both at a strategic and a tactical level, with a demonstrated ability to be hands on and remain close to sales and operations.
  • Ability to travel as needed
