Shift Technician

The Production Team is looking to fill the role of Shift Technician in their Wolverhampton facility. The responsibilities of the Shift Technician are to assist production trained staff in their duties, working as part of a team to ensure the machinery runs as efficiently as possible whilst making quality goods, fit for purpose. Learn new skills to eventually use to perform tasks under limited supervision to the same high standard. Technicians work a continental shift pattern on a rolling shift pattern, 4 on 4 off, 2 days, 2 nights from 2 x days (06:45am to 19:00pm) 2 x nights (18:45pm to 07:00am) and 4 x days off.

IPL Wolverhampton manufactures fully recyclable products with post-consumer recycled options available.

Position Title: Shift Technician

Location: Wolverhampton

What you will bring to the role:

A reliable, dependable candidate who will bring a team player mindset with the ability to work autonomously as needed.

The successful candidate will:

  • Apply knowledge gained of setting, processing and running of blow moulding machines progressing through a challenging training plan.
  • Perform day-to-day general remedial work including repairs of plant, equipment and machinery and replacement of consumable machine parts.
  • Attend simple breakdowns and conduct remedial action for internal NCRs (non-conformances).
  • Assist and learn calibration and repair techniques for machines and ancillary equipment.
  • Escalate electrical and complex breakdowns to the engineering team.
  • Help maintain the production areas to a high standard.
  • Ensure all necessary documentation is updated and produced in a timely manner.
  • Cross train for key production roles such as production support, material handling, warehouse and quality control.
  • To provide adhoc shift cover, sometimes at short notice, for key roles such as Shift Technicians (material handling, warehouse and QC, if trained).
